निर्जला एकादशी (Bhimaseni Ekadashi) Every month has two pakshas(पक्ष) , the period of 15 days  namely Shukla and Krishna and each of them is blessed by one Ekadashi. Ekadashi of shukla paksh Jyeshth month(ज्येष्ठ मास) is called Nirjala Ekadashi. This ekadashi is most important as well as auspicious out of all 24 ekadashis of an year. Devotees observe fasting from grains as well.as water this day.  Story:- In mahabharata times, Bheema the second Pandav once asked his grandfather Shri Ved Vyas Ji (Auther of the epic Mahabharata) that he could not control his hunger and thus is unable to observe Ekadashi fastind. Shri Vyas dev ji then recommended him to observe fasting only on Nirjala Ekadashi by which he will get the credit of fasting all the 24 ekadashis of the year So this story narrates the importance of this audpicious fasting day. GODDESS DHARTI ALONG WITH ALL THE DEMI GODS VISITED SHRI VISHNU AT VAIKUNTH. THEY WERE ASSURED BY HIM THAT HE WILL TAKE BIRTH AS DEVAKI'S 8TH SON.
